Observing the annual hop harvest at Hukins Hops

Hukins Hops is a multi-generation hop farm that has been growing hops in Kent, England, for over 100 years. For this Good Beer Hunting assignment, I photographed the team as they worked a long shift on a hot summer day in September 2023. The hops are picked, dried, and stored before being sent out to breweries. Some of the hops were used to brew 'Green Hop' beers, usually on the same day they were harvested. View on Good Beer Hunting

These photos were taken over the course of an afternoon at Hukins Hops farm in Kent. We were given a tour of the farm by Dom Bowcutt where we seen the team pick fresh hops off the vine, before being transferred to the processing building where we seen the hops being dried and sorted.

All photos were taken onsite at Hukins Hops farm. Some of the photos included here were not used in the final story, but I've included them here for further reference.
