Community and craft beer in Hebden Bridge
Hebden Bridge, a small town in West Yorkshire, England, boasts a healthy pub and brewery scene. In this Good Beer Hunting photo assignment, I explore how the community-owned Fox and Goose and the renowned Vocation Brewery reflect the town’s dedication to independent business, helping it remain a thriving hub for craft beer enthusiasts.
The writer of this feature, Michael Clarke, secured second place in "Best Travel Writing" at the North American Guild of Beer Writers 2024 awards. The piece also received a high commendation in "Beer and Travel Writing" at the British Guild of Beer Writers 2024 awards.
I took these photos over the course of 2 days in July 2023. The focus of the photos was to capture the beauty of the town and its small businesses. Alongside writer Michael Clarke, we walked around the town and the canals that run through it. We visited Vocation Brewery, Nightjar Brewing Co, Little Valley Brewery, Fox and Goose pub, Vocation and Co bar, Stubbing Wharf pub, and Drink bottle shop.
All photos were taken in Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd. Some of the photos included here were not used in the final story, but I've included them here for further reference.
